Parent & Child Activities
Parent & Child Activities require a parent to be in the same physical site as their child. Some of the activities have parents and children together in an activity and some activities provide opportunities for individual actions for parents and children. Please contact the group facilitator directly for more information.

Friday Active Living-Abbottsfield Recreation Centre (3010 119 Ave)
The Active living program is offered to families with children between the ages of 0-6.
We have many activities offered in our indoor gym, with a wide selection of toys. Bring your children to play games, interact with other children and to have Fun! Every Friday our staff will lead the children in games and activities, however parents MUST STAY IN THE BUILDING or designate another adult to be with their children. Parents are welcome to read a book, join the lunch committee, workout with the fitness equipment, participate in the parent group or just relax. The choice is yours. We occasionally go on field trips both in and out of our community to places such as the ACT pool, Borden Park, various playgrounds etc. Parents are invited to participate in parent meetings that set the direction and content of this activity. Please join us! A light nutritious snack is provided and after all that play, we invite you to join us for a FREE lunch.
Our program is a drop in program so if you can't make it every week, it’s okay. Everyone is welcome! No registration fee, and no charge. We do ask that you complete a registration form for our information.

Community members are welcome to come in and access educational toys, books, videos, and resources. A computer is available for online information searches but we are unable to provide a printing service at this time. The Toy Lending Library has educational and fun toys available for children aged 0-6 years. After registering, parents are able to sign out toys for a two week period. We hope to have our inventory available in print soon so families can phone in their toy request. (Contact Diane at 477-5655 for more information on the inventory). We understand that sometimes toys get damaged. You will not be charged for damaged toys! We just request that the toys be returned to us.
