Children's Programs

For information on any Candora, Children’s Activity please contact Diane Sopher, Program Manager or Andrea Belair, Project Coordinator at 477-5655. Our offices are located at #266 Abbottsfield Mall.

The Candora Society operates sites in 4 child development centres in the Abbottsfield/Rundle area. All centres where parents leave their children are licensed by the province. Families must register prior to children participating. We rely on parent’s feedback and input through surveys and other means to develop and improve our activities. Parents are invited to share their ideas and concerns through parent meetings, parent advisory groups and direct feedback to staff. Parents are welcome to visit the site, have a coffee and observe their child at play when desired. In addition, parents are usually welcome to attend field trips with their children. Staff have a broad knowledge of community resources and are pleased to work with families to connect them to additional resources if requested.

Discovery Center (DC)

The Discovery Centre, located on the second floor of Abbottsfield Mall gives parents an opportunity to shop without the kids (0-6 years), attend appointments or enjoy a chance to relax or meet with friends for coffee. Adults attending other Candora activities can confidently leave their children at DC. Age appropriate learning activities coupled with a learning through play curriculum ensure children have a fun time while in our care. Special events, field trips and community activities round out the curriculum. Parents are encouraged to participate with their children if desired. Our licensing allows for 15 children 21 months to 6 years old and 8 infants/ toddlers 0-20 months (maximum 4 under 13 months). Children are welcome to attend as frequently as required.

Monday-Thursday from 8:45am-11:45am and 12:45pm-3:30pm

Community Action for Children (3 sites)

Community Action for Children (CAC) is a preschool program for children ages 3 - 6.  Utilizing a Highscope approach children will learn through play, special interest activities, and field trips while having fun and making friends.  Educational, social and recreational aspects will all be addressed. Snack is provided at each session.  Daily snack and activity schedules are posted at the sites.  Lunch supervision and pick ups may be available in certain circumstances. Please discuss this with site staff. Frequent, regular attendance enhances children’s progress and is encouraged.
